Advancing Storage Systems for Advance Valve

Challenge
A local St. Louis business needed to maintain their customer relationship by managing their extensive inventory with an industrial shelving solution.
Advance Value , a valve assembler, tester, and repair specialist in the St. Louis area was in need of storage space. This company stores valve inventory, and needed shelving for their different parts. These valves vary from brass, iron, to carbon steel and stainless steel, so this industrial shelving and storage system needed to be sturdy enough to support these items. Advance Valve also needed storage for their smaller parts like springs.
When this St. Louis business reached out, they had about 200,000 SKUs, and they were estimated to have about 1.3 million SKUs by the end of the warehouse shelving project. “Advance Valve had a serious amount of new inventory coming into their facility,” says Zach from Industrial Shelving Systems.
Industrial Shelving Systems was given the opportunity to design and install heavy duty warehouse shelving for Advance Valve. See how we took this challenge on, and created a heavy duty shelf system for the extra 1.1 million SKUs coming their way.
Solution
To begin this project, Zach, an account manager at Industrial Shelving Systems (ISS), took a visit to the Advance Valve warehouse where he was able to assess the inventory and space. This evaluation allowed him to determine the type of shelving that would most benefit this operation. First and foremost, Zach determined that rivet shelving would be ideal for storing their new inventory. Zach measured the space and had Western Pacific Storage rivet shelving installed. These heavy duty industrial shelving units were ideal for holding the different valves along with bins and boxes that held smaller parts.

As an extra precaution, Yellow Angle Iron was installed to border the shelving and walls. This bright colored border was put in place to ensure that the shelving could withstand any hits or bumps when retrieving or loading inventory. “Our priority at Industrial Shelving Systems is always to provide a safe workplace, so we recommend safety measures where applicable,” says Zach.
Lastly, we installed steel shelving and peg boards from Rousseau. This industrial shelving held boxes for smaller items, and the peg boards were perfect for items that were able to hang in bags. This allowed for these items to have better visibility for workers needing to grab them quickly.
Results
With these heavy duty warehouse shelves put into place, Advance Valve was able to prepare their space for the influx in inventory coming in. Now selling nationwide, this valve specialist is able to have all of their inventory organized, making it easier and quicker to load and unload products, allowing them to maintain their customer relationship. “Industrial Shelving Systems was great to work with, and they were quick to get the job done,” says Jeremy, the Production Team Leader at Advance Valve.
